Budget: 130.594.277,30 € Time of construction: 1999 – 2005 Short Description: Complete construction of twin tunnel (bidirectional) on either side of Metsovitikos River to enable Egnatia Odos Highway to cross the mountainous area around Katara. Ag. Nikolaos twin tunnel (total length of 2 x 350 m). Anilio twin tunnel (total length of 2 x 2.13 km). Complete construction of connecting road between Metsovo junction and the existing national road. Improvement of the road between Metsovo and Anilio (total length of 5.5 km). The project took place in an area of exceptional natural beauty. Therefore, project execution respected the landscape and made restoration in affected areas.
